For Semax, confirm identity by mass spectrometry against the expected monoisotopic mass (roughly 813.9 Da for the free peptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro), since the acetylated N-Semax variant will show a different mass. Check that HPLC purity is stated as 98%+ and that the chromatogram is included rather than just a summary number. Common issues to watch for are truncated or deletion sequences, residual TFA from purification, and unlisted counter-ion or salt content that inflates the apparent net peptide weight.
