Melanotan I is an alpha-melanocyte-stimulating-hormone (alpha-MSH) analogue; the same molecule, as the pharmaceutical afamelanotide (Scenesse), is a melanocortin-1-receptor agonist that increases skin pigmentation and antioxidant activity.
